Applications open for the Best Cancer Reporter Award 2014, and for a grant

The European School of Oncology announced that the new edition of the Best Cancer Reporter Award will be coupled by a granting scheme to allow journalists to work in depth on topics related to cancer.

The European School of Oncology (ESO) is seeking nominations for its annual Best Cancer Reporter Award which honours excellence in cancer journalism. The Award is presented each year to a professional journalist who has made an outstanding contribution to enhancing public understanding about cancer.

The 2014 Best Cancer Reporter Award winner will receive a prize of €5,000. The runner up will receive €2,500. Special Merit Awards will also be given to journalists who the jury believe have excelled in different areas of cancer journalism. In addition, articles from the award-winning journalists will be published in ESO’s Cancer World magazine (www.cancerworld.org)

Cancer World Journalist Grants 2014

In order to encourage high-quality reporting on cancer, Cancer World magazine is launching a journalist grants programme. Print, broadcast and new media journalists are invited to apply for a Cancer World Journalist Grant that will enable them complete a reporting project on a particular topic relating to cancer.

Successful applicants will receive a grant of up to 2,500 Euro. Recipients of the grant will be required to complete their project within an agreed time-frame and submit their articles, radio reports or videos for publication in Cancer World magazine and on the Cancer World website. Cancer World magazine will give grant recipients the right to reproduce articles/videos through other media channels.

If so, submit your proposal to us by 12 September 2014.
